The effects of rapid solidification by chill block melt spinning on the structure of Ti-Al-Si alloys containing 25at%Al and 0-12at%Si were studied. The formation of hypoeutectic and eutectic structures in the eutectic and hypereutectic alloys, respectively, indicates that the coupled zone is skewed towards the faceted silicide phase. Transition from rod-like regular to particulate-like irregular eutectic in the roll-contact surface of the hypereutectic alloys and stabilisation of ordered bcc B2 matrix phase in the eutectic at room temperature also occurred.
