The subject of thermoeelectric materials is now a growing and active field primarily due to several new concepts and also becase of a recognized technological need.~(1.2) Several new ideas and approaches to the design of improved thermoelectric materials have stimulated a resurgence of interest in this old field.~(3,4,5) Although there are many different avenues taken by different groups around the world,~(6,7,8) here we discuss our approach to new thermoelectric materials,~9 exploring complex chalcogenide materials using newly developed slid state sytnhetic techniques for these systems~(10).
