Zeolites as (potential) decorporating agents

As it is generally known, zeolites are hydrated microcrystaline aluminosilicates containing exchangeble cations of alkali metals and of alkaline earth metals. Characteristic properties of zeolites arise from their molecular framework structures in that the assemblages of tetrahedra creating their porous structure happen to create regular arrays of apertures. These apertures are of such a size as to be able to selectively take up some molecules into their porous structure, whilst rejecting others, on the basis of their larger effective molecular dimensions.
