9Cr-1MoVNbN steel is now the most important heat-resisting material used for high temperature superheater and reheater in advanced super-critical steam power systems. This paper reports the dynamic fracture toughness and impact properties of 9Cr-1MoVNvN steel from CVN instrumented impact testing at a wide temperature range from -196 to 650°C. Experimental results from CVN impact test and dynamic fracture toughness determination are presented and discussed here. Correlations between CVN impact energy, microfractography and dynamic fracture toughness are also examined.
