The paper describes the results of safety and maintenance design studies of 600MWt HTGR-GT power plant based on the results obtained in the feasibility study. (1) At the depressurization accident, passive coolability of HTGR-GT system designed in present study was examined and verified by the safety analysis. (2) FPs (137{sup left}Cs and (110m){sup left}Ag) inventory in th helium gas and radiation exposure to the public at the pipe rupture accident were evaluated and the safety design concept of the system was verified. (3) Disassembly/assembly procedures of turbomachinary of HTGR-GT system were proposed with remote maintenance equipment.
