Green High Performance Concrete (GHPC) represents the development orientation of world concrete industry. Addition into concrete of mixture(slag powder, fly ash etc.) improves concrete workability greatly. There are many technologies for producing finely ground slag powder, but they are not so ideal. Therefore, study and development should be intensified. Shougang is strong in comprehensive utilization of slag. Comprehensive utilization of industrial waste slag will be intensified in order to meet requirement of producing "zero pollution green industrial no-waste product". 1. Present development Situation in Making Use of Slags in China and Abroad 1) Development orienta tion of concrete industry in the world-Green high-performance concrete: Concrete development experienced its early stage of Negelflush gravel and grass reinforced mud mortar in the New Stone Age, later stage of lime, gyp tabia, Portland ash lime concrete and concrete with cattle and horse blood and polished glutinous rice soup additives, modern stage of cement concrete, steel reinforced concrete, pre-stressed concrete, fiber or polymer reinforced concrete, and up-to-date stage of high-strength and high-performance concrete. The development of concrete follows a technological line of "combination, high-strength and high-performance" "Combination" means means that different kinds of reinforced concrete, blended materials (slag fines, flyash) and chemical additives are used in concrete to improve concrete strength, durability and economic efficiency. Altra-superimposition effect resulted from combination is the main cause of high-performance of concrete. "High-strength" has been believed to be the characteristics of high-quality concrete since 1850 when steel reinforced concrete came into being. Before the 1950s, Strength > C30 or higher was high strength of concrete; in the 1960s, C40approxC50; but since 1980s, concrete with a strength of C50approxC60 has been widely used for high-rise buildings and bridges. Experts forecast that average concrete strength of C50approx-60, and C100 extra-high strength concrete will be widely used in structure construction.
