HOT SPOTS IN HRSGS AND GAS TURBINE EXHAUST DUCTWORK METHODS TO ADDRESS AND FIX

There are hundreds of Gas Turbine Power Plants located all around the world. More of these plants are being built everyday. One of the common problems shared by many of these plants is the development of hot spots on the outside casing of the ductwork or Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) due to the compromise of the inner metal shroud and insulation behind. The following paper will show basic reasons why hot spots develop and outline several different methods to fix hot spots, both while the unit is on-line or off-line.
