CROATIAN ELECTRIC UTILITY - HRVATSKA ELEKTROPRIVREDA - HEP JOINT VENTURE BETWEEN RWE Energie and HEP

摘要

Three crucial objectives of EU energy policy:-competitiveness, -security of supply,- and environmental protection are equally applicable to Croatia. Croatia has learned the lesson about security of supply from the past in the very drastic way by fact of losing HEP's property of 650 MW coal fired plants. HEP is aware that a the national base load cannot be assured on the basis of the performance of the transmission lines only, but on the basis of the well structured reasonable diversification fuel strategy and reliable, competitive, efficient and environmentally friendly production units within the country. According this strategy of diversification, the joint venture for completing the coal fired Thermal power Plant Plomin 2 between Croatian Electric utility HRVATSKA ELEKTROPRIVREDA d.d. and RWE Energie AG, the largest German energy utility has been signed. The J/V RWE Energie and HEP is a good example of co-operation between two partners where a flexible approach of RWE and by maintaining an active role of HEP can bring the further value to the overall efficiency of the project and significantly decrease construction risk.
