A shock absorber has great effects for vehicle dynamic performance. Accordingly, we are having difficulty with deciding the damping force characteristics. In order to improve dynamic performance more than ever, we have developed a new damper called Dual Flow Path (DFP) shock absorber. This shock absorber has a new structure piston valve which provides more degree of freedom to the damping force characteristics at various piston speeds. This paper describes the aims, survey of the structure and of the evaluation after vehicle test, regarding the development of DFP shock absorber.
