Most engine bearings have been machined by dry cutting systems for preventing cutting chips being attained on the machined works. Now, engine types are changing from L6 to V6 as the anti pollution and economical demands are increased. The V6 main bearings are provided with deeper oil glooves than those of L6 to supply sufficient engine oil for two con-rod bearings. It is difficult to machine these deeper oil grooves with the dry cutting systems, because a span of tool life is shortened and a machining accuracy is worsened by the thermal effect. New oil filmed water drop cutting fluid supply system is applied for this machining process, and longer tool life (10 times), accurate bearing height and wall thickness can be obtained. This system consumes only 10mL/hour biodegradable oil and it is easy to recycle the cutting chips as well as the dry cutting system.
