Visual Cognitive Performance of Elderly Drivers Part 2 - Effects of character size and visual distance on reading time

Our previous study examined that the effect of aging on visual recognition performance in reading Kanji characters. This visual recognition performance was divided into reading speed and preparation time. In the present study we examined the effect of changes in character size and visual distance. The results showed that character size influences preparation time but does not have a great effect on reading speed. Longer visual distance reduced the preparation time but did not change reading speed.
