It has been necessary to enhance the marketability of products in recent years by shortening the development period and increasing the efficiency of the development process. To accomplish that, Nissan had developed the "Functional Digital Vehicle" (FDV) for simulating various low-frequency car vibrations. With the Nissan FDV, which combines an engine control model, an automatic transmission (AT) control model, and a full-vehicle mechanism model, it is possible to simulate complicated phenomena such as rough shifting. This paper presents an overview of the Nissan FDV and the results of a rough shifting analysis as an application example.
