An objective evaluation method of wind noise in a car based on a model of subjective evaluation process

This paper describes a synthetic method for objective evaluation of wind noise in a car's passenger compartment. We analyzed subjective evaluation process of wind noise by using neural networks, and clarified that the principal factors in evaluation of wind noise are "loudness of high frequency area, fluctuation, and balance (relative loudness)". From the acoustic metric corresponding to each factor, the degree of contribution of each factor, which is a cause of an uncomfortable impression, and the overall impression of wind noise, can be objectively evaluated.
