Investigations into allelopathic interactions of white lupin (Lupinus albus)

Suppression of three agricultural weeds, corn spurry, dock and fat hen were observed in an experimental field trial investigating organic break crops. Significant differences were found in weed burdens between lupin and other crops in July and August2000. Split pot experiments showed that lupin had the greatest effect on reduction of weed fresh weight where there was no below ground barrier. Lupin and dock plants, chopped and incorporated, were found to confer control of weed species in pot experiments.
