The nonimaging Fresnel lens has been developed for advanced solar concentration systems as thermal concentrator or for photovoltaic generation of electricity. With a secondary concentrator, the system provides uniform distribution of flux and solar spectrum on its absorber. The lens for this research aims at high concentration ratios (300 SUNS and over) for high efficiency solar energy utilization. The performance of the lens is evaluated in measurement of flux and photovoltaic applications. The results show that nonimaging optical design allows highly efficient solar concentration.
