Operational experience of wind turbines at Tappi wind park

We have been operating a wind farm called Tappi Wind Park at northern pole of the Tsugaru peninsula in Aomori prefecture since 1992 for demonstrative operation of Wind Turbine Generator System (WTGS). In this demonstrative operation, we obtained various operational-experience such as machine failure, lightning strokes, and noise problem. Further, we have been carrying out demonstrative testing of the WTGS to evaluate its reliability and durability. This paper describes the outline of the wind farm, the operational experience, and the major findings of the demonstrative testing.
