摘要

The use of wind as alternative energy source is increasing, and research and development about this clean and unlimited resource is being carried out on various levels. Wind turbine that are used to convert this energy source in electrical power are mostly of propellor type with horizontal axis, developed based on the advanced knowledge with aircraft dynamics. On the other hand, research about the aerodynamics of wind turbine with vertical axis are very limited, in spite of a number of advantages such as low dependence on wind direction variation and simple blade construction. This paper presents the results of performance calculation about wind turbine with vertical axis, especially with buoyant type straight blades.
