Policy and Regulatory developments in the New Millenium will need to address the following issues: 1. the promotion and development of genuine markets electricity a) Sustainable competition in generation b) Interconnection: clear and workable rules must be in place to allow the development of a genuine market through interconnection across geographic areas c) Network pricing; how is pricing for the network to be set if it is encourage the efficient usage of the network and also sensible investment in the network d) Will the contestability timetable be followed allow the benefits of competition be passed on to all customers?
