A Processing Method of the Evaluation Parameter of Template Matching in Appearance Inspection Systems

Performance of template matching used for inspections has not been systematically investigated. The authors propose the system for inspection of movable targets together with a total area template matching and with the local templates matching The total area template is used for searching the area to be inspection, and the plural, local templates are made by dividing the total template and used for precise inspection. Supposed targets in our system are bottles in production lines. The measure representing the degree of matching is normalized into the brightness of an image. The authors investigate experimentally the performance of our template matching technique.
