A method of estimating the traffic condition based on instantaneous values of the road traffic noise

This study proposes a method of estimating the traffic condition (passage time, travelling lane, type of a car and its velocity) from instantaneous values of the road traffic noise in a plane road. Such a method is useful to detect a nonexistent abnormal sound based on the estimated condition. The validity and usefulness are examined by applying it to the simulation experiment result and actually observed data.
