CUCURBIT DISEASE UPDATE PART I: BACTERIAL AND ANGULAR LEAF SPOT, SEPTORIA LEAF SPOT AND SCAB, AND BACTERIAL WILT

A cool and wet growing season in much of New York state was responsible for the occurrence of several bacterial diseases of cucurbits, as well as several fungal diseases, especially Septoria leaf spot, scab, and Phytophthora blight. Bacterial wilt was again a factor in most areas of the state, with cucurbit beetles causing damage both by feeding and by vectoring the bacterial wilt bacterium.
