Critical analysis of the ,,skinresurfacing`` using the ultraphulse CO_2-laser

In the past, treatment of facial wrinkles with the method of skin resurfacing, using the Ultraphulse CO_2-Laser, has gained in significance. however, the media, as well as fellow colleagues, of ten face the laser method too uncritically. To get good results, the applying surgeon not only has to dispose a well-founded physical basis-knowledge or dominate different methods, but primarily he has to given the indication correctly. Therefor-in our experience-in case of a wrinkle-depth more than one millimeter, the dermabrasion, the underpadding or the combination of funderpadding and laser treatment are superior to the single laser dermablation. When the skin is flabby and hanging dhown, surgical procedures have to be applied. By the follow-up of 200 parients, the effectiveness and potential complications are shown. On one had, histological investigations of human tissues, which was treated with the Ultrapulse CO_2-Laser, should show which doses were necessary to generate a visible effect and on the other hand, should determine which doese casue damage in the tissue.
