The electromagnetic compatibility and interference (EMC/EMI) analysis of modern electronic navigation/communication systems aboard airborne platforms requires simulation tools capable of computing electromagnetic fields on electrically large structures (e.g., vehicle shells), coaxial cables and cable connectors/loads. The paper presents a fast time-domain method that simultaneously solves for all fields (free-space propagating, cavity bound. and cable guided) on these structures. Specifically, we extend our preliminary solver (Bag/spl caron/er, H. et al., Proc. URSI Symp., p.348, 2004) to include connectors/loads. The proposed method employs three solvers: (i) a time-domain integral equation (TDIE) solver to compute external fields (current densities) on the exterior structure (platforms and cable shields); (ii) a finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) solver to compute guided fields inside cables; (iii) a modified nodal analysis (MNA) solver to compute node voltages on equivalent circuits of connectors/loads. These solvers are coupled at the circuit terminals and cable shields, and the resulting coupled system of equations is solved simultaneously at each time step. The TDIE solver is accelerated by parallel computation and the time-domain adaptive integral method (TD-AIM) (Yilmaz, A.E. et al., IEEE Trans. Anten. Propagat., vol.52, p.2692-709, 2004).
