Record 1 watt fiber-coupled-power 1480 nm diode laser pump for Raman and Erbium doped fiber amplification

In conclusion, we have developed record high power 1450-1480 nm narrow stripe and flared laser structures. We demonstrate that a single high power pump laser can provide substantial distributed Raman gain and enables both higher bit-rate systems and longer span distances. Such technology will lead to more cost effective amplifiers with small form factors and reduced complexity.
