In this paper we report a 2.9 nm bandwidth all fiber AOTF fabricated from a 4 cm long, 6.8 μm diameter tapered optical fiber. The filter was polarization insensitive and broadly tunable. It was fabricated with a travelling burner type fiber tapering rig that had been optimized for producing tapers of uniform waist diameter. To our knowledge, the filter is the narrowest reported to date using tapered fiber and has the smallest bandwidth-length product of any all-fiber AOTF reported thus far.
