Multipactor breakdown is a problem that arises in high power satellite application. Multipactor represents a possible payload failure mechanism for comunication satellites since it can destroy RF components or transmission lines, or it can significantly raise noise levels. This paper introduces multipactor breakdown phenomenon and preventing technique, gives some test results and analysis about multipactor threshold testing on S-band passive components. It is very important that design high power component should consider about multipactor problem. Porper component structure design can reduce the probability of multipactor dischearge, and a thorough component investigation at high power, in vacuum, can ensure the efficacy of the communication payload.
