Advanced Dielectric Filters for Ku and Ka Band Input Multiplexer Applications

One of the most commonly used filter transfer functio for Ku band Imux filter is the 8-pole quasi-elliptic function cascaded with a circulator coupled 2 pole group delay equalizer(8-4+D). However, the most efficient electrical design belongs to the 10-pole(10-4-4) selfequalized configuration. But this proved to be difficult to implement in the dual mode dielectric format due to small non-adjacent cavities coupling values. In this paper, we present the Com Dev patented single mode self-equalized dielectricfilter technology that can out-perform its dual mode counterpart. This flight proven design technology is also readily extendable to the Ka band frequency for the future Ka band Multi-Media Satellite Systems.
