摘要

A major focus of our group is the application of genomics tools, such as DNA microarray technology and high-throughput sequencing, to understanding the processes and individual gene functions in cells mediating or regulating inflammation. Monitoring the expression of thousands of genes in parallel in endothelial cells, macrophages, and vascular smooth muscle cells under various stimuli provides new information on the nature of these cells and their dynamic regulatory roles. Critical information can be distilled from the large amount of data obtained using specially designed software. Appropriate software and mining tools developed at Incyte allow efficient evaluation of these experiments in the context of an integrated database, which includes relevant clinical samples and treated primary vascular cells from different organs. In addition to confirming many published observations, we have been able to discover novel genes and new gene networks participating in vascular function and inflammatory processes.
