The car simulator for driving training is a very complicated control system. It contains numerous parameters and state variables. The simulator is not only very complex control system, but also time critical calculation process in real time. Moreover, the car simulator is also a multimedia system. It contains image, sound and text, etc. Therefore, we construct the car simulator as a parallel control system. The hardware is based on the transputer, which is a microcomputer with its own local memory and with links for connecting one transputer to another transputer to build high performance concurrent systems. The software is the high level language OCCAM, which is designed to express concurrent algorithms and implementation on a network of processing components. The results prove that this system is powerful and with optimum performance. The simulation systems have been used for practical driving training.
