On depot refurbishment of passenger vehicle interiors

Today's Train Operating Companies require maximum availability from their rolling stock. They cannot always afford the luxury of refurbishing stock while undergoing major repair, due to cost and time constraints. Cost effective alternatives are sought. "On Depot Refurbishment" is designed to exactly meet these aspirations, being customer focused and providing a "one stop shop" from artists' impressions through to certification. Refurbishment is normally undertaken during planned maintenance down time. Depot staff or contractors can be employed. Tailored work packages ensure no additional delays to the unit. Such a novel approach has been successfully demonstrated on several fleets. This paper further explains the concept.
