An Mg-Al Layered Double Hydroxide (LDH) intercalated by sulfonato-salhen-chromium(Ⅲ) complex was used for the selective oxidation of glycerol with 3% H_2O_2. It was found that the LDH-hosted chromium complex was an effective heterogeneous catalyst. Under the optimal reaction conditions, the highest conversion of glycerol reached 48%, with 22.1% selectivity to dihydroxyacetone. Moreover, the catalytic performance remained unchanged even after being recycled five times.
