Powder metallurgy (P/M) is a widely accepted manufacturing process for fabricating strength enforced stainless steel, which prefers to have good corrosion resistance. Typically, those stainless steel parts need high-density to use in automotive. This study compares the effect of sintering temperature and organic additive (Malic acid, et al.) on the densification and anticorrosive response of 434L stainless steels. The densification of straight as well as organic acid active-sintered 434L stainless steels increases with increase in the sintering temperature. Organic acid active-sintered 434L stainless steels, especially with liquid-phase sintered 434L, exhibit better mechanical properties and better corrosion resistance as compared with solid-state sintered compacts.
