A method for the analysis of the effects of gas ocmposition on blow-off of laminar flames characteirstic for household appliances is presented and illustrated usin data obtained from bunsen tubes and practical burners burning 8 different gases in the open air.the method unravels the effects of chemcial composition and Wobbe number on blow off; it is seen that the influence of Wobbe number on blow off is far greater than that of the chemcial ocmposition iotself.the mehtod also prermits the prediction of blow off for any burner for arbitrary naturla gases,once the blow-off curve for one gas has been measured.It kis shown that calcuated burning velocities can be used to assss the effects of gas composition on blow off.Further,the utility of the mehtod for determining the interchangeability of gases is discussed.
