摘要

This paper lays emphasis on the mechanisms of optical bistabilities in thin films (TF) or organic dye solutions (OS). The absorption of laser beam in these materials strongly depends upon not only their detailed electronic structures but also the photon energy ($HBAR approximately ega@) of laser beam. The third-order nonlinear optical characteristics of TF or OS are presented and discussed.
