Application of Fe-Mn-Si-Cr-Ni Stainless Steel Based Shape Memory Alloy For Pipe Joints

Fe-16Mn-5Si-13Cr-5Ni shape memory alloy (SMA) with a high corrosion resistance similar to the stainless steel has been developed for joining stainless steel pipe in cold/hot water service system. The pipe joints were made form cold rolling plates using tungsten inert gas arc (TIG) welding method. A joining structure with two gutters inside joint and attached epoxy resin adhesive in the area of gutters has been designed aim to produce the sealing between pipe and joint.
