Materials which are deformed permanently at deep temperatures and can accept their initial geometric form after subsequent warming are designated as shape memory alloys (SMA). A further special property of shape memory alloys is the so-called super elasticity: at higher temperature ranges, SMAs can be stretched up to almost ten percent without plastic deformation. On account of their special properties, SMAs are of high interest for different fields of applications, e.g. micro-and medicine engineering.
