The measurement of the strength and elastic properties of paper is very important to establish optimizaiton of the papermaking process.This type of measurement will be essential for the cost efficiency of paper machines int he future.Lorentzen& Wettre has developed a new method for measuring the strength and elastic properties of paper on the paper machine by using ultrasound.The unique feature of this method is that a continuous stochastic signal it utilized instead of hte traditional well-defined pulse.
