Ectopic Induction of Bone by Bovine BMG

Bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) is a kind of low molecular weight protein. One of important biological properties of it is induction capacity of bone forming from non-bone tissue. Biochemical methods can. be used to extract BMP from bovine cortical bone. Before the last step of extraction, we can get Bone Matrix geltin (BMG), which contains BMP component. In this study, we refer to the method of Urist, and improve it based on our condition, then get BMG through sequential extraction. Muscle implant experiment was to investigate its induced osteogenic activity. Results demonstrated that the BMG we extracted could induce ectopic osteogenesis.
