An experimental invstigation has beencarried out to assess the effects of agingphenomenon on shape memory property (SMP) of a Cu-Zn-Al alloy produced by electrical melting processusing commercially pure raw materials. The castbillets of the alloy were hot extruded into wiresat different temperatures to achieve the specimensrequired for electrical resistivity testsconducted to study the SMP and isothermal aging behavior at 200 to 280°C.Optical microsopic examintion was performedthroughout the study to interpret the results. Itwas revealed that SMP is due to the martensitictransformation within the range of which the alloyproperties undergo dramatic changes. These aresome changes in transformation temperatures usingdifferent extrusion temperatures, and SMP is reduceddue to aging phenomenon.
