The Influence of Serious Acid Rain on Foundation Improvement in Chongqing City

Chongqing is the key city of the great Southwest of China. With the development of economy, the environmental pollution in the mountainous city becomes more and more serious, especially, the pollution of acid rain that connects with the air pollution. The civil engineering in this city has made great progress recently, however, many foundations need to be improved in the meantime. Usually, engineers improve foundations without taking the influence of serious acid rain into account. In the paper, the influence of acid rain on foundation improvement in Chongqing city is studied. On the basis of the study, the viewpoint that geotechnical engineering, engineering geology and environmental engineering should be proceeded integrally is proposed.
