Design criteria and their implementation in synthesis of high-spin organic polyradicals, molecules with multiple interacting sites, are outlined. For high-spin polyradicals, where maintainance of through-bond interactions between many sites with "unpaired" electrons in a single molecule is essential, the following design criteria are identified: (1) defects, (2) through-space interactions, geometry (out-of-plane twisting), (3) connectivity between sites, dimensionality. Selected structures for polyethers, precursors for high-spin polyradicals, are discussed.
