Using methanol to partly replace the diesel fuel burning in diesel engine is a simple way in using alternative fuels. But the main problem is that the max. cylinder pressure and the cylinder pressure rising will be increased. This leds to increasing the mechnicla load, engine noise and affecting the egine reliability. Due to those reasons, the ratio of methanol to diesel fuel burnet in diesel engines is still low. This paper presents a new way of using EGR to control the cylinder pressure and the to raise the ratio of methanol to diesel fuel.
