The study was carried out on diesel engine model S195 (8.8 kW) single cylinder. The effect of four operational parameters (Intake valve close anlge, Exhaust aalve open angle, Fueldelivery angle and Fuel injection pressure) on noise was studied. Sngle factor and multi-factor quadratic regressive orthogonal methods were adopted in the experiments to get the relationshiop among four parameters and noise. By mean of optimization technique, the optimum operational parameters for two working conditions of the engine were selected. Field test verified that the engine (in use) working condition was found to be bad at maladjustment. Test results showed that optimum adjustment can achieve nosie reduction between 2-4dB. Optimum adjustment was applied without modification or redesign in engine sturcture.
