摘要

A fabrication method and microstructure of cast aluminium alloy-fly ash composites have been studied. Aluminium alloy-fly ash particulate composites were made by dispersing up to 10 weight percentage of fly ash in matrix alloy (ZL101) melts, using stir-casting technique. Additions of fly ash particles increase some of their properties, reduces the density of aluminium casting. Due to the substitution of the aluminium by the waste fly ash, the cost and price of these materials could be lower than any other aluminium alloy matrix composites. This new type of composite materials appears as attractive foundry products for automotive applications.
