BONDING OF AL MATRIX COMPOSITE INSERT WITH CASTING AL ALLOY

摘要

One method, which can join casting Al alloy with Al matrix composite insert through simple gravity casting, so a component partly reinforced by composite is obtained, has been studied. It includes preparing composite insert, treating the insert surface, placing the insert inside die where the component need to be reinforced, finally joining casting Al alloy with the insert. Results show that in the simulation experiment of piston, All kinds of Al matrix composite inserts can be bonded with casting Al alloy, metallurgical bonds are formed between them. A bonding mechanism has been discussed.
