Low carbon aluminium killed steels have beendevelopped for the production of deep drawable sheets. Thesesheets are available as hot rolled steel and are increasinglyused without further processing. In this work, the effect ofvanadium addition, finishing temperature after rolling andcoiling temperature on the microstructure and the deepdrawing characteristics has been studied for low C-Al killed-steels having different Al/N proportions. The sheets were hotrolled in the austenitic range. Scanning transmission electronmicroscopy (S.T.E.M.) was used for the microstructural study,particularly for the analysis of the precipitates. Texture anddeep drawing properties were also examinated. Vanadiumaddition prevents an excessive ferritic grain growth if thecoiling temperature is high. A lower Al/N ratio leads to a lowerplanar anisotropy coefficient ?r.
