This paper discusses how psychometric determinations of percent relative humidity can be improved. First, it begins by explaining the physics involved in psychrometry, providing proof of its foundation by demonstrating the conservation of enthalpy in an open adiabatic steady-state system. Second, an assessment is made of the errors incurred in generally used 'table look-up' methods that also yield percent relative humidity values. Finally, an alternative to the tabular method of %RH determination is deduced; and is analyzed for error sources. It will be shown that using this alternative contains appreciably less error.
