Industrial Environmental Gas Monitoring Calibration Techniques

The environmental and life safety issues being mandated by OSHA for compliance by Industries for hazardous gases in ambient air, breathing air, and in confined spaces has promulgated the inclusion of multiple gas monitors throughout industrial facilities. Each monitor is designed to sense concentrations of specific gases that may be present under certain circumstances in the working environment. This paper will describe the types of gases being monitored, their typical concentrations, the calibration techniques involved in assuring their performance and accuracy, the required intervals and the reliability of the gas sensors in use.
