Fly Ash as Land Fill Structural Fill Material within the Metropolitan Area of Calcutta

While efforts must be made to explore all avenues of utilisation of fly ash, consumption of fly ash is likely to be very insignificant in making value added products like bricks, blocks, tiles, pavers, light weight aggregates etc., compared to its staggering production figures. Major thrust area should, therefore, be the subbase for high ways, formation for railway embankments and land/structural fill, for which the relevant authorities like the Indian Road Congress, Railway Designs Standards Organisation and Indian Standards Institution are being approached to prepare and include necessary specifications in their list of publications.
