Protective wrapping is essential for paper and paperboard products. To achieve the required level of protection, there is a wide range of protective materials available. One of the market areas which is most concerned about environmental issues is Europe. Recycling and environmental programs are globally used, however, as marketing tools for the papermaking industry. This paper focuses on the options for more environmentally-friendly roll packaging methods. Current approaches to the recycling of wrapping materials and more efficient logistics and transportation are also discussed.
